Erin Kilmurray is a dance artist building genre-straddling work born from athletics, DIY sensibilities, social practices, spectacle, and collaborative teams. Erin was recently named a 2022-2023 Links Hall Fellow, a Chicago Dancemakers Forum Lab Artist (2020), listed on Newcity Magazine’s 50 People Who Really Perform for Chicago (2020), and has been supported through Chicago Dancemakers Forum’s Greenhouse Grant (2018) and 3Arts Make-A-Wave + 3AP Award (2018), and toured evening-length work SEARCH PARTY to Japan (2019). Her work has been presented by contemporary performance spaces, music venues, nightclubs including Links Hall, The Dance Center of Columbia College, Thalia Hall, Empty Bottle, Pivot Arts, University of Chicago, The Cambrian’s, among others.
She is the director of The Fly Honey Show --- a decade-long performance project elevating women + queer experiences through movement, storytelling, and variety, acknowledged as a Chicago institution by the Chicago Reader in 2018. She has choreographed for countless underground spaces, independent makers, parties, concerts, and musical artists, and theatrical productions. She teaches extensively with Lucky Plush Productions and The Cambrian’s, held guest artist / lecturer positions through the Theater and Performance Studies department (University of Chicago), Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, Loyola University, Beloit College, Columbia College Chicago, Ball State, and creates a space for Chicago freelance dancers and teachers to practice through her pick up class series, CONTEMPORARY FORMS dancing class.
