Sheryl Boris-Schacter
Nonfiction
Copake Falls, NY
After a career as a teacher, principal, professor, and leader in a national non-profit, Sheryl Boris-Schacter is now an educational consultant and writer working on her first memoir. She is the author of two books and over twenty articles, all of which are informed by educational research and scholarship, but this is her first work of creative non-fiction.
Sheryl holds doctoral and Master’s degrees from Harvard University, a Master’s from Boston College, and a BA from Hofstra University. She was awarded previous writing residencies at Haven in Montana and at the Wellstone Center in Santa Cruz.
She is using her time at Ragdale to work on a second draft of the yet-to-be-named memoir, a book that explores the intersection among feminism, claustrophobia, and being her mother’s daughter. Sheryl and her husband reside in New York’s Hudson Valley, comfortably tucked between the Berkshires Hills and the Adirondack mountains.
