Veronica Anne Salinas is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, educator, writer, and Deep Listener currently based between Chicago, IL and Texas. Her creative research engages sound, ecology, magic, text, archives, walking practices, and video. Her work in sound practices focuses on soundwalks, field recording, text scores, composition, spatial audio, improvisation, live performance, and facilitating Deep Listening workshops. Her interest in Deep Listening emerged during an artistic growth period in Houston, Texas with mentor David Dove and the organization Nameless Sound, formerly the Pauline Oliveros Foundation Houston.
She is a co-founder and artistic director of Tierras Sonidas, a facilitator at Campbient, and currently serves on the board of directors for the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology. She has studied Deep Listening at the Center for Deep Listening at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and holds an MFA in Sound from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. WEATHERING is her ambient music project and has work out with labels S/N and Editions Glomar.
