In 2012 musician Sarah Swain (Sarah Swain & the Oh Boys) founded the annual Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival in memory of her mother who died from ovarian cancer. In 2014 Sarah went on to found the nonprofit Cape Wellness Collaborative which provides integrative wellness therapies to people facing cancer on the Cape & Islands. Since the CWC program went into effect (2015-present) the organization has served over 2,400 cancer patients with therapies such as; massage, acupuncture, Reiki, yoga, meditation, nutritional counseling, delicious healthy meals, and more.

A self-taught musician, at 15 Sarah began playing the guitar and writing songs and began gigging professionally by the age of 17. Over the years, Sarah has toured and played in numerous independent bands and has been a part of a number of recording projects - her own and as a supporting musician. She has lived and played music in Massachusetts, California, Colorado, England. In 2006 Sarah released her first solo album “One Girl Town” and went on to put together the band Sarah Swain & the Oh Boys in 2009. In 2012 Sarah released “Every Little Bird” which won Limelight Music Awards “Album of the Year”. The latest self-titled release, “Sarah Swain & the Oh Boys” came out in 2017. Sarah has shared the stage with Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, NRBQ, Erin McKeown, Carla Kilstedt, Bonnie Hayes, and Sarah Lee Guthrie.

Sarah danced with the modern dance company Eveoke Dance Theater in San Diego 1997-1999, and has been teaching dance in some form since 1995. She currently teaches a dance fitness class she developed called Total Body Dance.

In 2004 Sarah moved to Cape Cod and married steel sculptor Steve Swain - they have 3 children (Lucy, Jessie, and Stanley). Sarah and Steve own and operate The Frying Pan Gallery in Wellfleet, MA. (Visit Site)


Sarah is and was always drawn to the arts. In addition to playing music, she was trained in dance and worked with her family at their nursery business where she learned about horticulture and garden design. Sarah attended the Harvard Radcliffe school of Landscape Design and Montserrat College of Art and went on to have a successful garden design company.

In 2019, Sarah and Cape Wellness Collaborative were awarded the Massachusetts Nonprofit Council’s Innovation Award. 2020 Sarah received the Massachusetts Red Cross Community Hero Award. in 2021 received the National Women’s Council of Churches Humanitarian Award.
