Mitra Kaboli is an audio documentarian and multimedia artist working professionally in radio and podcasting since 2012, where she has shaped and influenced this growing field through her focus on the experiences of women, queer communities, and people of color living in America and Canada with a signature emphasis on intimacy and emotion. Mitra has supported the launch of podcasts for major publications as a producer, sound designer, and consultant on everything from sound quality to idea formation to brand alignment to editorial advising on a wide range of projects. She has also produced and directed live performances and audio-based installations. Mitra was one of the original members of the Peabody Finalist podcast, The Heart. In 2016, The Heart took home the Gold Award for Best Documentary at the International Third Coast Awards. Her award-winning work has been featured on ESPN’s 30 for 30 Podcasts, the BBC, Making Contact and NY Mag’s Tabloid. In 2019 she was named a United States Artist Fellow. Most recently, she was the host and producer of the critically acclaimed podcast, Welcome to Provincetown. Mitra is an adjunct professor at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and at Hunter College.
