Marvin Tate is an award winning Multi-disciplinary Artist and Educator. His works have been shown and heard nationally-and internationally. Presently, he is the Arist in-residence at Theater Y; where he, along with ten-teenage apprentices from North-Lawndale have just completed the set-design for the classic Play “Rhinoceros”. Tate creates a tapestry of spoken word, combined with poetry, dark humor, social issues, song, and improvisation . His songs have been heard on/in: NPR, Poznan Poland Berlin Jazz Fest, Pitchfork, Big Ears festival, NYC Winter Jazz Festival. Later this year he will be traveling to Oslo, Norway, and Helsinki, Finland, to perform at The We Jazz Fest with Mike Reed’s, Separatist-Party and Andreas Roysum’s Jazz Ensemble.
