Gina Stevensen is a playwright, screenwriter, dramaturg, and writing instructor. Her writing process is research-driven and collaborative, focusing on character-based explorations of socially relevant subjects.

 Gina is the 2021 winner of the Kernodle New Play Award, the 2020 winner of the New Works Initiative at Good Luck Macbeth, and a 2019 winner of the Columbia@Roundabout New Play Reading Series. Gina’s plays have been developed in NYC and regionally with Roundabout Theatre Company, American Stage, Barter Theatre Company, Urban Stages, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Hartford Stage, The Tank, and more. She has been a finalist for Theatre503’s International Playwriting Award, the Jewish Playwriting Contest, Austin Film Festival Pitch Competition, Big Apple Film Festival, and MFA Playwrights Workshop at The Kennedy Center, and a semifinalist for the Princess Grace Award, O’Neill National Playwrights Conference (twice), Bay Area Playwrights Festival (three times), Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, NYC International Screenplay Contest, and The Civilians’ R&D Group. Gina is creating and producing the American Dreaming: New Play Festival at Middlebury Acting Company this August. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Arkansas, Hunter College, and NYU. As a dramaturg, she has supported both classics and new works with La MaMa E.T.C, Vermont Shakespeare Festival, Classics on the Rocks, and more. MFA Playwriting: Columbia University.

 While in residence at Ragdale, she will be working on two new semi-autobiographical projects: a play that follows a group of adults in a Vermont self-defense center, and an immersive theatrical exploration of polyamory and community.
