Danny Thanh Nguyen’s short stories and personal essays have appeared in The Journal, Gulf Coast, Foglifter, South Dakota Review, Entropy, New Delta Review, and other magazines. He is the editor of AS IS, an anthology of Vietnamese American visual art and literature. He has been awarded fellowships from Lambda Literary Foundation, Kundiman, San Francisco Arts Commission, and Indiana University where he received his MFA. At Ragdale, Danny will be working on a collection of essays about his relationship to leather/BDSM through the lens of processing community-level trauma—particularly parallel influences stemming from being the child of Southeast Asian American refugees of the 70’s/80’s and queer descendant of HIV/AIDS survivors of the epidemic during the 80’s/90’s. He runs a social media persona project he calls “Sluterary Thirsterature” on Instagram: @engrishlessons.
