Sylvie Powell is a writer, visual artist and graphic designer based in Chicago, Illinois. They graduated in Spring of 2020 with a BFA in graphic design and a minor in creative writing from DePaul University and they plan on attending graduate school for design in the coming years. Currently, they work at Northwestern University and previously as the graphic designer for the DePaul Career Center. Additionally during their time in college, Sylvie interned at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and as a research assistant for Dr. Rachel Harper (Seen + Heard) within the DePaul College of Education.
Sylvie was born and raised in Appalachia before moving to the city for college. Their artwork has been featured in Emma Waldo’s chapbook Dirt Water with a Crunch (2016) and their writing has been featured in DePaul's annual zine Preserves (2017) and Bad Egg Zine - Gender: Other (2018). They've also self-published several zines and chapbooks such as Gourd Baby (2016), Living as a Maxxinista (2017), Ceiling Fan (2018) and Leftovers (2019).
