Amelia Brunskill’s debut novel, The Window, a young adult mystery, was shortlisted for the Chicago Review of Books’ fiction award, and was nominated for YALSA’s 2019 Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers list. Her short fiction has appeared in Indiana Review and Ninth Letter, been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and awarded an Illinois Arts Council Agency Literary Award. She has been a resident at the Vermont Studio Center and at the Noepe Center for the Literary Arts.
She received undergraduate degrees in psychology and visual arts from the University of Washington, and a graduate degree in information studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She currently lives in Chicago and works as an academic librarian.
Amelia is very excited to have the opportunity to be a resident at Ragdale, and to have a supported stretch of dedicated writing time. She plans to spend this time working on her second novel, another young adult mystery. She hopes that the famed Ragdale ghosts will help give her writing a well-needed boost of tension and dread while still allowing her to get a reasonable amount of sleep.
