Afabwaje Kurian is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and is currently at work on her first novel. She has taught Undergraduate Fiction Writing at the University of Iowa and served as a fiction screener for Callaloo: A Journal of African Diaspora Arts and Letters. She has received residencies at Ucross and Vermont Studio Center. She is a two-time recipient of the John Leggett Prairie Lights Fiction Prize for short story writing. Her short fiction has been published in Crazyhorse, Callaloo, The Bare Life Review, Joyland, Nat. Brut., and McSweeney’s Quarterly.
