Bonnie Brooks
Bonnie Brooks is a tenured associate professor of Dance at Columbia College Chicago. She chaired the Dance Department at Columbia from Fall, 1999-Spring, 2011. During that period she also co-curated the Dance Center’s contemporary dance presenting series. She is a co-founder of the Chicago Dancemakers Forum, and served on the board of The Harris Theater for four years. She is now a board member of the Chicago-based dance service organization Audience Architects. A native of Washington DC, she has held numerous administrative posts in the dance field, including executive directorships at Dance/USA and the Minnesota Dance Alliance, and managing director of the David Gordon/Pick Up Co. She began her work in arts administration at the National Endowment for the Arts. Brooks studied theater and English at Wheaton College (IL), and earned a master’s degree, also in English, from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
