Rebecca Makkai will discuss the work and inspiration behind her second novel, The Hundred-Year House. The story is set in an erstwhile artists’ colony on the North Shore — certainly not Ragdale, but unarguably influenced by its architecture and legacy. Makkai, who has stayed at Ragdale three times, will talk about the role this and other artists’ residencies played in the composition of the novel, and how the book reflects its North Shore setting. Part of Lake Forest Reads: Ragdale, the annual month-long, city-wide reading program in October.
Complimentary admission. Since space is limited, advance reservations are required.
